This is the inspiration behind Bermeo Tuna World Capital, an association dedicated to promoting the work of the entire tuna value chain and advocating for sustainable and responsible fishing practices.
At the same time, we’re encouraging the consumption of our star products—northern bonito and tuna—committed to fostering local activity while staying true to our roots and traditions.
That’s why this summer we invite you to enjoy the best bonito at the bars in Bermeo! Throughout July and August, join us for the Bermeo Tuna Pintxo Tour.

This summer, Bermeo is once again ready to offer the best tourist activities, linked once more to gastronomy and our star product: tuna and albacore (bonito del norte).
The hospitality venues in Bermeo are preparing to launch the Bermeo Tuna Pintxo Tour very soon. This is a route featuring a variety of tuna and albacore pintxos that can be found in different bars and restaurants across the town. In addition, it is complemented by a pintxo competition, allowing visitors (and locals) to participate by voting for the best pintxo during the months of July and August. Information brochures, as well as the route map, are available in the bars and restaurants, and also at the Bermeo Tourist Office. The town's hospitality workers will showcase their skills in working with tuna, as well as the techniques and knowledge acquired in the course promoted by BTWC at the Higher School of Hospitality of Bilbao (Escuela Superior de Hostelería de Bilbao) before the summer.
Furthermore, for another consecutive year, the Tuna Tasting will continue to take place. This is a demonstration and tasting activity for tuna pintxos, held every Wednesday in collaboration with BTWC's canning companies in Bermeo, at the Fisherman's Museum (Museo del Pescador). Chef Martín Lucas will guide us through the delicacies and flavors of different pintxos made from various products provided by the canning companies (Cusumano, Arroyabe, Campos, Serrats, and Zallo), while specialized staff from the canning companies will present and explain the different products, as well as the canning process and the work done by the canning factories. All of this is accompanied by a short visit and introduction to the world of tuna fishing in Bermeo, led by the staff of the Fisherman's Museum. This summer, locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to taste the best tuna in different formats and activities, always with the guarantee of a responsible and sustainable fishing product.
Bermeo Tuna Forum: sustainability and global partnerships for the future of tuna
