Bermeo Tuna is taking part in the United Nations World Ocean Conference in Nice with a side event on the localisation of the 2030 Agenda, where it places the importance of local action and territorial governance at the heart of the debate as fundamental pillars for achieving a sustainable blue economy.

In addition, the day before, we participated as guests in the side event organized by UN Etxea, “Accelerating Ocean Sustainability through Gender Equality”

What is it?

“Local transformation for global impact: Sustainable blue economy and multi-stakeholder governance to advance SDG 14” is an official side event of the United Nations World Ocean Conference (UNOC3), organised by Bermeo Tuna World Capital together with the Local2030 Coalition and UN Etxea. The event highlights the role of local action, territorial governance and multi-stakeholder partnerships as drivers of a sustainable blue economy, sharing experiences and solutions developed in the Basque Country, Hawaii, Paraná and Shizuoka to advance ocean protection and the achievement of SDG 14.

“Accelerating Ocean Sustainability through Gender Equality” was a roundtable discussion that explored how to accelerate the goals of SDG 14 (Life Below Water) by directly linking them to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), with the aim of placing gender equality at the core of marine and fisheries governance.
