Bermeo Tuna and Seychelles Partner for Tuna Sustainability

06/08/2026

Bermeo Tuna strengthens its international partnerships with the visit of the Seychelles delegation

Strengthening partnerships for a more sustainable tuna future.

The 1st july, we were pleased to welcome a delegation from the Seychelles Maritime Academy and the Government of Seychelles to Bermeo, as part of the international cooperation promoted by Bermeo Tuna World Capital through the Alliance of Tuna Cities for Sustainable Development.

Over those days, we exchanged knowledge and best practices in key areas such as maritime and fisheries education, innovation, knowledge transfer, talent development, and sustainability across the entire tuna value chain.

The long-standing relationship between the Basque Country and Seychelles, built over decades around the Indian Ocean and the tuna sector, shows how international collaboration is essential to address shared challenges and build a more sustainable, innovative and responsible governance of our oceans.

We thank all the institutions, training centres, companies and organisations involved in making this initiative possible.
